IDENTITY CARDS are being presented by the Home Secretary as a Benign Accoutrement to Good Citizenship. The only people who have nothing to fear from Digitally-Recorded Identity Cards are the CRIMINALS.
As with all other legislative controls, such as the recent gun legislation, the Dangerous Dogs Act and the drug legislation, the CRIMINALS ignore it and treat it as an irrelevance, then steal and forge any documentation they may occasionally require.
Typically, this New Labour legislation is being driven by that dangerous left-wing group of control freaks and social engineers, the FABIAN SOCIETY, of which Tony Blair is a leading light.
This left-wing group whose thinking has more in common with communist China and the old Soviet Union, believes that all it’s objectives are achievable if taken very, very slowly, one step at a time, so that no one actually notices their agenda. Again it will be the honest law-abiding citizens who are left paying the bill and suffering the consequencies, with their liberties ever more severely diminished.
People must always be aware that any digitally held information is always CORRUPTIBLE, UNCONTROLLABLE, INSECURE and AVAILABLE TO ANYONE WITH THE DETERMINATION TO MISUSE IT. Our answer must always be a clear ’NO’
The Identity Cards Bill was introduced to the House of Commons on 29 November 2004, following the Queen’s speech on 23 November 2004.

The Fabian Society is the UK's only membership based left of centre think tank. Providing an arena for open-minded debate, the Society's programme aims to explore the political ideas and the policy reforms which will define progressive politics in the future.
