Dear Editor,
Councillor Jill Shortland Deputy Leader Somerset County Council has been telling us that the Liberal Democrats aren’t just concerned about the ‘Here and Now’, but the legacy they will leave future generations. I was born and bred in Somerset and I have lived here for the majority of my 60 yrs. It has been quite clear now for many years, that these interlopers from distant shires, who have moved here and managed to take control of our County, care nothing for the ‘Here and Now’, save how they can turn Somerset into some extension of the Home Counties.
These people should all be deported to an Island covered in Red Tarmac, somewhere in the Outer Hebrides; where they can spend the rest of their lives building and erecting Traffic Lights. You can be sure there will be no Traffic Jams when they arrive, but you can bet your pension they will be able to create more Gridlock, Road Rage and High Blood Pressure for future generations; than The Bristol Balloon Festival on a wet Saturday! Even if they have to turn it into a Rehabilitation Centre for drug addicts from Eastern Europe, whilst leaving them all constantly on Red.
Good housekeeping to them means spending all the money quickly on ‘Traffic Calming’ before the ‘mug punters’ realise there’s none left to look after the old age pensioners. Then try and find another ‘mug’ to tax to make up the deficit, whilst they fly off to the continent on holiday.
Yours
Charles Henry
