Disunity over Afghanistan

:| Lord Ashdown has been talking again of disunity over Afghanistan, but it is the pusillanimous Liberal-Democrat and the European attitude to Muslim aggression and their Anti-Americanism, that the Americans have been trying to deal with from the very beginning that has lead to this disunity and lack commitment from many of our allies. . We need another ‘Margaret Thatcher’ to shake them all up but ‘Common Purpose’ are preventing that from happening.

David Cameron heads a very diverse spectrum of Right Wing views as we all know. . If any believe there is any other politician out there at this time who can stop this country being completely destroyed by factionism. . Then it is they who need to get out into the real world, not me.

The fact that both William Hague and Ken Clarke are working together is a great leadership feat and it’s good enough for me. . All complainers are doing is aiding the Socialist wreckers who are trying to totally deny any culpability for this mayhem that they have caused, and divide the opposition. . They are talking up a ‘hung parliament’, aided by ‘Common Purpose’, which would be a totally disastrous for this country at this time.

Dear Editor,

I have just received an eight-page shrink-wrapped colour pamphlet from the Conservatives. Thank you, Lord Ashcroft.

My immediate impulse was to bin it, but I thought I should have a look inside.

I find it contains a remarkable list of promises which, I suggest, deserve wider publication lest we forget.

The Conservatives will not cut pensions or Pension Credit. They will preserve the winter fuel allowances and free TV licences for the over 75s.

They will keep free bus passes for pensioners. Even more important, they will restore the earnings link with pensions. They will freeze council tax for two years. And they will offer people the chance to pay a one-off fee of £8,000 to cover the cost of residential care in old age.

So, pensioners, if the Tories win, your worries are over.

However, what really clinched it for me was the news that Ken Barlow of Coronation Street will, according to an article on page three of the pamphlet, be voting Conservative. Who could resist?

As the UK is technically bankrupt, how on earth are they proposing to pay for these proposals?
How do they fit with the already announced cuts in spending?
I have just received a letter from William Hague supporting the UKIP policies, are the Conservatives now joining the UKIP!

Harry Blakeley, Hayle

:| Whilst the UK is in great difficulty because of the Labour Party’s total incompetence, it is not accurate to say it is technically ‘bankrupt’. . Our indebtedness has now reached approx 1.2 £trillion and we have assets of around 7 £trillion. . Bankruptcy only occurs when your liabilities exceed your assets and you can no longer pay your debts. .

I have no doubt that William Hague supports many of UKIP’s ideals, as do very large numbers of us now, but he is committed to democratic change through the ballot box, and his view has always been; ‘In Europe, but not run by Europe’, which I believe now represents the view of the majority.

In my opinion, UKIP’s ‘nuclear’ option is not really realistic and is unlikely to command enough support at this time; if ever.

:| Yes it is very worrying ‘Errol’. . . . But can a government that was always in such a hurry to legalise homosexual sex with sixteen year old boys, really be very concerned about the abduction of a child?.

They always were, and still are very keen to jail normally law abiding people for perjury or perverting the course of justice as they see it, but never for buggery of a minor. . . they only refer to them as ‘children’ when it suits them. . . . .

:| And yet again from this Labour Government, we have them concerned about the human rights of the perpetrators, rather than their victims or the victim’s family!
